The Greater Hatboro Chamber of Commerce (www.hatborochamber.org) invites everyone to the 53rd Annual Hatboro Holiday Parade on Sunday, November 24th, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The parade theme is "Candy Cane Cavalcade," and it will be held rain or shine.

"The Hatboro Holiday Parade has been a valued tradition for more than one-half century in our region, and an exciting way for families and friends to launch the season," says Joseph J. Tryon, Jr., chamber president. "It is the largest celebration in the area and draws participants and spectators from many neighboring communities, as well as the greater Philadelphia area. It is a wonderful way to highlight our "hometown" business district and enhance community spirit."

Robert M. John, one of Hatboro's most revered and dedicated citizens, will serve as Grand Marshal. Other honored parade participants will include three distinguished World War II veterans who served in the China Burma India Theater, and at Pearl Harbor.

More than 100 marching units with approximately 5,000 participants, plus area emergency services groups, will gather at Summit Street and York Road to parade through the borough. Marching units will include colorful floats, high school marching bands, military units, dance groups, youth and scouting groups, community organizations, area dignitaries and public officials. Joining the "Candy Cane Cavalcade" are the Aqua, Greater Overbrook, Polish American, and Trilby String Bands.

The grand finale of the parade will be Santa and Mrs. Claus arriving in a horse-drawn carriage provided by Bucks County Carriages of New Hope. Children are invited to bring letters for Santa which will be collected by the United Parcel Service (UPS). The Boy Scouts of America will also be on hand to collect non-perishable food and personal items along the parade route to donate to Hatboro food pantries. Parade participants may bring their donations to the registration table.

The Hatboro Holiday Parade is completely funded by donations and sponsorships. The 2013 sponsors include Hatboro Federal Savings, Powers Equipment Company, American Heritage Federal Credit Union, Sullivan's Scrap Metals, Hatboro Jewelers, The Omnia Group Architects, and VaporPhoxxe.
