Will You Be Allowed to Vote in November?

         WILL YOU BE ALLOWED TO VOTE IN NOVEMBER?_____ 

In order to vote in November, you must be registered to vote and show one of these government or PA institution issued Photo IDs which must include an expiration date and is not expired  (please note exceptions):

  • Photo IDs issued by the U.S. Government or Pennsylvania:
  •  
    • PA driver’s license or non-driver  PennDOT Photo ID (may be expired for no more than 12 months)
    • Valid U.S. passport
    • U.S. military ID - active duty and retired (must designate an expiration date or designate that the expiration date is indefinite).
    • Employee photo ID issued by Federal, PA, County or Municipal government.
  • Photo ID from a PA public or private institution of higher learning
  • Photo ID cards issued by a Pennsylvania care facility

If you do NOT have one of these IDs, you can obtain the non-driver PennDOT Photo ID FREE at a PennDOT Driver License Center (PennDOT DLC).4 ways:

Previously had a PA driver’s license or PennDot Photo ID since 1990?  Go to a PennDOT DLC. If your record is in the PennDOT data base, you will be issued a non-driver PennDOT Photo Identification card. No documents needed.

Never had a driver’s license?  You need to bring the following documents to a PennDOT DLC  : an original raised seal birth certificate (if name has changed, a document connecting present name: marriage/divorce/ court order certificate),  a Social Security card , and 2 proofs of residency  (Name and address on a utility bill, tax records, W-2 form, lease, mortgage document , for example).

Born in Pennsylvania? You do not need to obtain your birth certificate. Go to PennDOT DLC with Social Security card, and 2 proofs of residency. You should be issued a PennDOT Photo Identification Card.

Can’t obtain birth certificate or social security card?  Go to DLC with Social Security NUMBER  and 2 proofs of residency .You may be eligible for special PA Department of State “for voting purposes only” Photo ID, if you sign affirmation that you can’t obtain documents.
