I have never been a fan of boycotts, but when I have a choice I will certainly make an effort to support more conservative businesses. It seems the message of diversity and tolerance only applies if you have adopted a far left agenda and curse the ground that any conservative has ever walked upon.

We can only hope that the cites with 95% far left voting records will wake up and realize that they have become useful idiots and that the little scraps of entitlement handouts the administration tosses them is not worth throwing their freedom away. They have become the links in the very chains that bind them to poverty. Demanding that the government take money away from those that produce wealth and redistribute it to those who don't has failed everywhere it has been tried and will fail again here. You can look at today's stock market, as it appears more likely that taxes may be going up on the wealthy, they are liquidating assets to avoid a huge tax bill next year. Is this really what we want?

This sounds like a temper tantrum because you didn't get what you wanted on Tuesday. Freedom in this country means voting for whomever you wish without fear or threat. Yet you lionize those who fire people who don't vote the way their bosses want them to. You don't represent conservatism. You typify extremism. Look up "propaganda" and do some quiet introspection.

More room in the aisles for the rest of us, good riddance. You're the same people who screamed about freedom of speech and religion when a Chik-Fil-A boycott was suggested. I can feel for the author, having had my business threatened with boycotts from the left because I dared let my party affiliation become known. What is good for the goose is good for the gander. I won't be as vocal or obnoxious as the liberals who called me vile names to my face and posted publicly their intention to put me out of business but I can choose to spend my money at places with whom I am aligned politically.

I noticed a common thread among people with extreme political views: they do not believe that the rules that they try to impose on others should also apply to themselves. Above, the author decries "freedom destroyers" and those who she believes do not "support personal freedom and the Constitution." Yet, she applauds and enourages people who share her political views to then infringe on the personal freedom and Constitutional rights of people who did not vote for the candidate that she prefers by firing them, etc. Then in the comments section, accusatory and rude language in the blog post is answered in kind, and suddenly rudeness is unacceptable. Do the author and her fellow "ninjas" not see the twisted logic and perverted sense of entitled righteousness in this post? Because if they don't I must conclude a lack of intelligence on their part and beseech The Patch to seek higher quality contributors.

Not that I would do all that the authors friends have done, but none of those actions are illegal in any way or violate the constitution. Are you proposing that I be forced by the federal government to do business with those I may prefer not to, for what ever reason I may choose?

It's a poor choice to associate political beliefs with a business, unless of course your business is politics. Why would anyone remain anything but neutral? Wegman's didn't hang Obama Campaign posters. The CEOs the "author" references made political contributions and now she wants to punish evryone associated with those companies. She goes further and describes these folks as "propagandizing, ignorant, malicious, pandering, selfish freedom destroyers". Over the top nonsense. This company employs 38,000 people and epitomizes capitalism. Right wingers often accuse liberals of "demonizing" success. If this isn't demonizing, I don't know what is.

Of course not. We should support whatever businesses we want to. Personally, I shop at small businesses because I believe in supporting them, regardless of the owners' political affiliations. But, it disturbs me that the author is lauding people who "cleaned house" among their employees when they learned that their voting choices differed from theirs. We, as Americans, do not have the right to threaten others into voting as we do or face retribution, particularly from an employer's wrath. Doesn't that take away those citizens' "voice and independence?"

Howard, you miss the point. It's perfectly legitimate to not give your money to a business that supports causes you find wrong. I don't boycott Chik Fil A because I don't eat there anyway. The larger point is the way the author describes those who support Democrats. I find the Papa John's CEO's statements to be offensive and I won't give him my business but I also don't refer to him as "ignorant, malicious, pandering, selfish freedom destroyers".

personally, I choose to spend my hard earned money on products that say "Made in America". I support local or corporate businesses regardless of their political affiliation. Look at the sticker on the bottom. If it says made in another country other than USA, pass. The only exception I make might be electronics since the asians have the market cornered there.

I suppose we've all argued with twisted at some point in our lives. Then there are the cruel facts of reality. That said, your reality clearly has no relationship to mine. I hope your income skyrockets incoming years, because if it does not, your reality will undoubtedly change. Obamacare has many flaws to work out, but this country has to start somewhere with healthcare. I'm not looking forward to it but I'm willing to give it a try. And someday, people will be glad of that. I won't be here, but my grandchildren will be, and I want them to have the best live they can have in coming years.

Everyone gets a choice (and a vote). So if you choose to boycott local stores because they supported a politician you do not like, you are hurting only yourselves. Trickle-down effect. Wegman's pays taxes and their employees pay taxes and economically support the areas where they live and work. Get over the hatred of Democrats and Obama. Move on and try again in 4 years.

Poor Laura :( No Wegman's, No Yankee candles. You have to much time on your hands, and enough money to buy over priced candles, and shop at Wegmans. Find some passion in you life that is not full of Upper Middle Class. Fight the Power Crap! Like a good partner to cuddle up with.
