Teen Takes Stolen Golf Cart on Spree in Maplewood
The Doylestown teen allegedly stole the golf cart, then took it out for a joyride on the baseball fields in Maplewood.
A Doylestown teen has been charged with motor vehicle theft and a host of other charges after an early morning spree on a stolen golf cart.
The 17 year old allegedly stole the golf cart from a storage shed at Veterans Memorial Park in the Maplewood neighborhood.
Then, police said, he rode the cart "across the baseball fields and throughout the Maplewood development."
The cart is owned by the Doylestown Athletic Association, the police noted.
The 17 year old was arrested at about 5:44 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 17, police said.
Besides the motor vehicle theft charge, he also is charged with trespassing, receiving stolen property, flight to avoid apprehension, unauthorized use of motor vehicle, criminal mischief, and prowling.

THis must be one stupid kid. How can you not get away from the police in the Maplewood Park. No I am not condoning the behavior. Just find it funny.

Have you seen the caliber of kids wandering around town all afternoon? Not exactly a gaggle of future Rhodes Scholars...

This could have been worse. We could only imagine the horror he would have imposed on our community had he decided to chalk a street or side walk. In any case, my only criticism of this lad is that he allowed himself to be taken alive. If you're going to act like a kid in Doylestown, you better have the balls to see it through to the end

I hope that every charge sticks. There has bEn early morning home invasions and prowling all summer multiple people in the surrounding neighborhoods all summer have been affected by this. Getting caught by the police is the best thing that could happen to this kid maybe now he will get the help he needs.

Chalking is one thing stealing a golf cart out of a shed is totally different. Obviously you people who think it's no big deal haven't had your property stolen or vandilized. And as for being a kid...I NEVER stole a golf cart and acted like an idiot when I was a kid. The problem is you kids think it's fine to act this way that it's no big deal and your parents stick up for you and your bad behavior. And yes it could have been worse DAA may have had to buy a new golf cart or someone could have been hit or gotten hurt.

I'm not saying he shouldn't be punished but motor vehicle theft? I hope the kid gets off with community service.

Brando....yes he should be charged with all counts as noted. He should be doing community service as a volunteer, not mandated by a judge. We have become a society that pampers kids and young adults with diasterous results. Or maybe the parents should be charged for not properly supervising their kid.
