Phantom Menace Opens Today
The Star Wars saga returns to the big screen in 3D, and a new art gallery opens in a renovated barn.

2. Calling all Star Wars fans. "Episode I: The Phantom Menace" opens tonight in 3D at the Regal Barn Plaza in Doylestown, among other screens nationwide. Or stay home and enjoy "The Phantom Edit" which removes 18 minutes of the original film - including most of Jar Jar Binks' screen time. Sing hallelujah.
3. Local author Dr. Rosemary DePasque will be at the Doylestown Bookshop tonight to sign copies of her sci-fi novel Planet Peace. It starts at 5 p.m.
4. Rich and Julie Timmons have opened a new fine art gallery in their renovated barn on Route 202. The gallery is now open, and welcomes art lovers to check it out this weekend.
5. On this day in 1962, downed American U-2 spy plane pilot Gary Powers was released by his Soviet captors in exchange for Col. Rudolf Abel, a Russian convicted of espionage in the United States.
