Naked Doylestown Man Arrested After Gnawing on Woman’s Head
A 20-year-old Doylestown man has been arrested in northern Pennsylvania after stripping naked, jumping out a window and attacking a woman walking nearby.
Naked, screaming and bloody from jumping out a second-story window, a Doylestown man has been arrested in northern Pennsylvania after attacking a woman and “gnawing on her head,” according to state police there.
Richard Cimino Jr., 20, of Doylestown is in custody and faces multiple charges in connection to the attack, which Pennsylvania State Police said occurred Friday.
The bizarre attack happened in the borough of Hawley in Wayne County in northern Pennsylvania.
State Trooper David Aulisio told Doylestown Patch Wednesday night that the incident happened between 4:30 and 5:15 a.m. on Hudson Street in the tiny town, which is home to about 1,200 people.
Aulisio said it started when Cimino drove his car off the road behind some houses on Hudson Street.
He then got out of the car and stripped off his clothes, leaving on just his underwear.
He headed toward a nearby home where police said he tried to break into 634 Hudson St. The man who lives there woke up to hear the suspect pushing on the doorknob, police said. The homeowner yelled at the suspect to get away from his house.
At first, Cimino refused to leave, Aulisio said Wednesday. Then, he turned and fled northwest, up Hudson Street.
Cimino stopped about 900 feet away, at a house at 521 Hudson St. He stripped off his underwear on the way, police said. The naked man then broke into the home, which was vacant, and made his way up to the second floor, Aulisio said.
An image from Google maps shows a home near that address as an older, two-story, white home with green trim. It sits nearly flush with Hudson Street, with a short sidewalk and hard-packed earth between the front stoop and the road.
Once upstairs, Cimino jumped out the second-story window, “severely injuring his arms and extremities,” Aulisio said.
Now bleeding heavily, the suspect crossed through the home’s garage and headed back toward the street, where he encountered two women walking nearby, Aulisio said.
Cimino tackled one of the women to the ground, covering her in his blood, the trooper said. Then, he began to “gnaw at (her) head, screaming like an animal,” Aulisio said.
The women managed to get away and ran to call the police.
The borough of Hawley has a part-time police department, and state police troopers based out of Honesdale cover the borough during their off hours, Aulisio said.
The two responding troopers, Cunningham and Pritchyk, found Cimino lying in the road, bloody and severely injured.
Yet he still resisted, displaying “delusional behavior” and lunging at the troopers as they approached him, Aulisio said. Trooper Cunningham fired a taser at the suspect to subdue him, police said.
Yet he still resisted. Once an ambulance arrived to treat him, police said he punched one of the first responders in the face, causing a “minor injury.”
Once the suspect was subdued, he was taken to Geisinger Community Medical Center, in nearby Scranton, police said.
Aulisio said Cimino is expected to be transferred to a hospital in the Philadelphia area to have plastic surgery to repair some of his injuries.
According to thetimes-tribune.com of Scranton, Cimino now faces a multitude of charges from burglary to indecent exposure to aggravated assault.
Aulisio said toxicology tests still are pending.

I was about to say the same thing. People need to understand what these synthetic drugs do to a mind. It's scary and we're hearing it more and more.

the miami incident did not involve bath salts. that was a theory put out there by someone that got spread around as the cause but the face-eating man was not on any drugs according to his toxicology report.

Nope it doesn't, the Miami PD have admitted that the man that ate the guys face months ago was not on bath salts. They found traces of marijuana in his blood, but no one who is high on marijuana is going to eat someones face. It sounds more like these people have serious mental issues that we can diagnose in a manner that can justify and explain such horror so we look for a scapegoat to blame, instead of understanding the sociological and societal issues that are most likely contributing to this individuals unstable behavior. Its easy to blame a substance, but 95% of the time it is not accurate unless it is PCP, Meth or most likely of all Alcohol.

Bath salts will not show in a toxicology report. There are so many chemical compunds in bath salts that are constantly changing by their manufacturers to keep them from showing up in drug screening. They dont have a test for bath salts. Most doctors confirmed in the Miami case that the psycho was on bath salts or something similar, even though it didnt show anything on the tox. report.

Knowing this man personally he is actual not crazy. garentee he was on some hallucinogenic, most likely mushrooms because he jumped out a second story window and people on mushrooms tend to do this. one of the worst trips i have ever herd about. hope he gets better and recovers.

People on psilocybin mushrooms do not act this way. It is true you can have a bad trip but it is not going to make you jump out a window and gnaw on someones head. Please do not speak in such absolutes when you do not understand the pharmacological effects and facts of a said substance. If this was a drug it is most likely a synthetic drug that was created, like PCP as I stated earlier. If the person was on mushrooms or cannabis then they are blaming a much deeper personal and psychological problem on substances that have a general consensus of being evil based on biased propaganda.

Decent, maybe...but after two or three years about hearing that a drug turns your head, it takes a particular kind of fool to play with it...I find it ironic that Erowid mentions a 'false positive' for PCP in bath salt cases, considering how much alike the freak outs seem to be...

I think its interesting how people on here seem a bit more sympathetic to some loser on drugs who tried to break into a home while naked and tried to bite someones face off than a girl found dead for reasons unknown who didn't hurt any one. Cimino must not have a racy old myspace page because in the court of public perception, apparently that would have been a true crime.

What is wrong with people today? The affects of taking drugs is well documented and nothing good ever comes from doing so. I am so tired of the victim status of every drug user on the planet. Take your drugs, but have your family lock you up in a room so the only person you hurt is yourself. Why must you take your problems out on everyone else ?

I thought the same thing, and I am glad someone else noticed that. I don't know whether gender plays a role, given the way society tends to value women based on sexual purity and the extent of victim-blaming of rape victims (even children), or whether it's something else. But the difference is astounding.
My hope is that some people read the kinds of comments that were posted about the female murder victim, and rethought their own actions for the future. That's what I am going to choose to believe.

My prayers are for the woman he attacked, this young man and his family. In order for someone to behave this way he had to have been on something or have some type of mental disability.
Bath salts need to be banned in all townships and counties! These young people think because they can buy it in a store and it's legal that they will be able to handle it! Now I have no idea if this young man was using them but it sure sounds like it may just be the case.

This could be anyone's son. Drugs and/or mental illness don't care if you are rich or poor, a "loser" (as suggested above) or an Eagle Scout. This young man's adult life, which is just as valuable as anyone else's, is only beginning and he has such a hurdle to overcome. I pray that he and his family get the support they need to get through this terrible time. I'm so relieved that nobody was killed. I hope that the young woman's wounds heal quickly and that she can find it in her heart to forgive.

Dear Patchwatcher, I am both eager and curious to see what sort of statistics you have of such hardcore drug addicted current or former eagle scouts that break into homes, jump out of 2nd story windows and attempt to gnawl off faces of the innocent. While I would prefer humans be more selective with their recreational activities, I would certainly sleep better at night knowing more of these detrimental nightmares to society are Eagle Scouts. I figure this would be kind of handy after having my body utterly decimated, I at least know they are super awesome at improvising tourniquets from common household items. (Sidenote: Do they have a merit badge for that? If so I want one! My status as a former cub scout better still honorable) While I hope Ricky gets help and someday lives a life as a decent multi-cellular organism close to the confines of civilized society, forgive me if in the meantime I do not feel bad for him. Even Charlie Sheen at his worst wouldn't consider such described activities as 'winning' If this doesn’t fit the definition of loser than I would certainly like to know what does.

Patch watcher: My sentiments exactly, although much better said than I. I heard it said that there isn't a family in America that doesn't have a relitive that suffers from mental illness, depression, or addiction. Treating them as we would treat someone with any illness helps them, and potentially innocent victims like this woman.

Dont be delusional. Dont blame this on a mental disorder! How ignorant can people be. No wonder people with mental illnesses are treated so bad. Clearly it is a substance that is making these people act this way! Considering this type of incident has only jist started to frequently occur

Exactly! I think that blaming this on a mental disorder is a joke. Mental disorders have existed for decades upon decades and yet we are just hearing about horriffic stories like these now in the past year. Mental disorders are not to blame for this, it's the individuals poor choice in extra curricular activities that are to blame.

@Mary alice- bath salts are the same of a drug, not actual bath salts that you buy at the store and put in your bath. While I've heard stories of people attempting to use those as drugs, those ate not the ones these stories are about, just FYI

Amysax I know bath salts aren't the ones you put in the bath. I fought very hard to have them banned in Warminster last year and removed from all stores in the township. I believe the story says the toxicology has not come back yet. I was simply stating his behavior mimics someone who has taken bath salts. I wouldn't know if he took them or not.
Many young adults have used bath salts as an alternative to street drugs and ended up with horrific results and behavior.

He was gnawing on a woman's head! I have no sympathy for someone who knowingly took a drug that causes erratic, psychotic behavior. It has been well documented that this drug is extremely dangerous. If any of you sympathisers were the victim how would you feel? Please spare your concern for people who deserve it. If he is from Doylestown, then there are others making the same decisions. How would you like it if some Zombied up freak broke into your home and chewed on someone in your family, then was given plastic surgery to mend the wounds he received in the rampage. Disgusting.

Jennifer,
I agree! I really can't stand reading posts where people actually have sympathy for a person who behaves like this. I only have sympathy for the victim, the woman in this case. The effects of drugs are not unknown and people who take them are often doing it as a means of escaping reality and their problems or just for fun. No one forced this guy to take drugs (whatever kind he took), he decided himself to do drugs and this was the result for him and he should have to pay for it.

For those of you making judgmental comments about this young man, just remember..there but for the grace of god..go all of us. Never look down your nose at one's pain. As a nurse, we often see the effect of bath salts. Young people do not understand the serious mind altering side effect of bath salts.
We protect the patient from themselves due to the strength that they possess while on the drug.
I hope that his young man can turn this horrific event into something good. Teaching others about bath salts from his own experience would be a good outcome. He can save lives through his example.
Sorry that some of the comments posted are from those who have no empathy for others.
I am sure that the women who were assaulted we're traumatized, but they actually helped to save his life. Glad that they are ok.
Give this young many your understanding and compassion. May he move past this and learn from it.
Glad that he is recovering and I am sure that he is scared and has no memory of the event.
If I could speak to him, I would encourage him to stay strong, move forward and make your life matter.

Guys this is a case of the rage virus. There have been numerous accounts of people doing similar things. Acting animalistic and carnivorous towrds other humans. Even the CDC has a post on its website that lists what to do in a zombie apocalypse. Im not saying this is what it is but its a possibility. If the CDC has protocols then who's to say that its not upon us.
