Moss Rehab Opening Site in Doylestown

The inpatient unit will treat Bucks County residents who struggle with the aftereffects of strokes, joint replacements and more.

Moss Rehab plans to open an inpatient rehabilitation unit within Doylestown Hospital by the end of this month.

The 12-bed unit will be the fifth such satellite unit for MossRehab, which is part of the Einstein Healthcare Network. It is expected to open by Wednesday, June 27.

The central location in Doylestown will allow the rehabilitation specialists to treat Bucks County residents who suffer from complications from strokes, bilateral joint replacement and medical conditions that require inpatient rehabilitation care, Einstein officials said.

"This is an opportunity to provide continuity of care for patients with physical disabilities whose acute care physicians are at Doylestown," said Thomas Smith, assistant vice president of MossRehab.  "We anticipate an enhanced quality of care as a result of the collaboration, highlighting the expertise of both Doylestown and MossRehab."

Ranked the No. 1 rehabilitation hospital in Pennsylvania, MossRehab also is among the Top 10 in the nation, coming in 9th in a ranking by U.S. News & World Report.

Hospital officials expect the new inpatient unit to treat as many as 200 patients within its first year.

Outpatient rehabilitation services will continue to be provided by .

An open house to show the newly renovated unit to the public is planned for Sept. 30.
