Local Tavern Expanding Take Out Store Offerings

The Pineville Tavern is now offering an array of soups, pastas, meats, beer and more at its take out store.

If you’re like most people, a long night in the kitchen isn’t exactly enticing after a long day at the office.

That’s why the Pineville Tavern, located off Route 413 straddling the border of Wrightstown and Buckingham townships, has been putting an extra focus on its take out store lately.

Chef Drew Abruzzese, whose family owns and operates the business, said the restaurant wanted to expand its take out offerings to accommodate busy families who don't want to sacrifice a good meal.

“In this economy, we’re all out there working more,” Abruzzese said. “Who has time to cook?”

Just because you don't have time to cook doesn't mean a homecooked meal is out of reach.

The take out store, which was added when the tavern completed its renovation in 2010, offers a variety of soups, entrees, pastas, desserts and more.

“It’s not okay to just eat pizza and Chinese anymore,” Abruzzese said, noting that while he is a fan of such takeout options, parents want to offer their families healthier meals on a consistent basis.

Offerings include three different kinds of chili (one is made with chicken) as well as six different kinds of soups, including butternut squash, chicken noodle, the famous snapper soup and others.

Homemade ravioli, one of the tavern’s specialties, is offered, as well as chicken potpies, meatballs, crab cakes and more.

Many of the items require a small amount of effort on the part of the diner, Abruzzese noted. For example, patrons will need to assemble the chicken pot pie crusts and scoop in the filling. The raviolis require cooking, obviously. All items come with preparation instructions on the container.

“We call it partial prep,” he said. “We do 75 percent of the work, you do 25 percent.”

There are options for kids, too, including pizza, chicken and macaroni and cheese.

To wash all the food down, the take out store also sells an array of domestic and imported beers.

Each week, a variety of "meal deals" will be offered, Abruzzese said.

Abruzzese said the restaurant plans to continue expanding its offerings in the take out store with the hopes of tapping into a local need – and making life a little easier for area residents.

"It's our familiy's dream to utilize our resources as a restaurant," Abruzzese said. "It's very exciting and we're doing everything we can to get it up and running."

The Pineville Tavern's take out store is open Monday through Thursday from 4 to 10 p.m. and Friday, Saturday and Sunday from noon to 10 p.m.

Nice to see the tavern doing well. When joy & I lived in Buckingham it was one of our favorite dining venues.
