Keyboards Stolen from Staples
Thieves recently made off with nearly $1,000 worth of keyboards from Doylestown's Staples store.
Store managers and Doylestown police are trying to figure out what thieves would want with more than a dozen computer keyboards.
Several computer keyboards were reported stolen recently from the Doylestown Staples store.
Doylestown Borough Police Chief Jim Donnelly said the theft was discovered when a store employee noticed an empty shelf.
"Somebody from Staples said 'Where’s all the keyboards?' and they were gone," Donnelly told Patch. "They went back over the tape and picked out two guys who were in that area."
After inventorying the product, store employees determined that eight keyboards, valued at $979.92, were missing, Donnelly said. The theft happened sometime between 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1 and 12:40 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 3.
They then checked with the Warrington Staples store, which also discovered several keyboards missing, Donnelly said. A review of that store's videotape also showed the same two men in the keyboard section, the police chief said.
Police aren't sure what the motivation for the theft was.
"Why would you steal keyboards? That doesn’t make sense to me," Donnelly said. "But there must be a reason."
