Just a few miles away from where thousands of people gathered to see Mitt Romney speak, key Democrats held a press conference reiterating their stance on women’s issues at a hotel in the Langhorne section of Middletown.

Kathy Boockvar, congressional candidate for the 8th district, spoke first and began by noting the Democrats and Republicans have “stark differences” for the nation. The candidate also said Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan are “far from the center.”

Congresswoman Allyson Schwartz, former Congressman Patrick Murphy, Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards and Sandra Fluke all spoke at the press event.

Fluke came to prominence in early 2012 when she spoke to congressional democrats on contraception mandates. She is a native of Pennsylvania.

It was a closed press event. Less than 6 members of the press and about 15 to 25 of the speakers' supporters.

I'm a little disappointed that this article didn't get to stand on it's own without the mention of the "thousands of people gathered to see Mitt Romney speak" in the opening paragraph.

Surely the participants could have been given a better introduction in the title due their name recognition. Even if you do not want to give any election publicity to Kathy Bookvar, Congresswoman Allyson Schwartz, and former Congressman Patrick Murphy could have been named.

On the Newtown Patch facebook page it was entitled "This happened yesterday in Langhorne:" Making it the most lackluster facebook status ever.

It's such a shame that the Newtown Patch has shown a clear political bias and even sadder that the discourse becomes so ugly with every political article. I didn't think we were that kind of community.

Congresswoman Schwartz acknowledged that the press conference was set to be similar in time to Romney's nearby rally.

Thousands?? 30,000 people stood in the cold! Men, WOMEN, teens, children, people with canes and wheelchairs. I was there for 7 hours.
This event had 25 people. The liberal socialist Democrat party is so out of touch with all voters, including women, but they keep telling themselves a different story.
JFK would be a Republican today.
Romney 2012 -- not for "revenge" but for love of country!~

Yes, Maria, that was the ugly discourse I was talking about.
I knew I should not have opened my mouth.
Take care.
Encourage your friends and neighbors to vote tomorrow!

I hope Sandra Fluke got paid enough money to stump for the President to buy her own birth control! Ugh
