Doylestown Twp Tax Rate to Remain Steady
Supervisors agreed not to raise the tax rate for 2013.
Doylestown Township residents will pay the same township property taxes in 2013 and they did in 2012.
The township board of supervisors on Tuesday unanimously approved next year's budget with no tax increase.
The township property tax rate will remain set at 10.25 mills, the same as it was in 2012.
That means the owner of a home assessed at the township average of $40,000 will pay about $410 in property taxes to the township.
In 2011, the tax rate went up by 3 mills, from 7.25 to 10.25 mills. The increase of about 41 percent was the first General Fund tax increase since 1988.
The 2013 budget lays out revenues of about $11.87 million and expenses of about $12.39 million. To close that gap, officials plan to use money left in reserve in varying amounts across the township's 14 funds.
Despite pulling $709,478 from its reserves, Doylestown Township still expects to have about $4.68 million left in reserve by the end of 2013, township manager Stephanie Mason said Thursday.
Doylestown Township is home to about 17,500 residents, according to the 2010 census.
