Doylestown's Domani Star was voted third best Italian restaurant in the Philadelphia area by readers of the Zagat blog.

A Doylestown restaurant has received some prestigious praise.

Zagat's blog set out to list the Top 10 best Italian restaurants in the Philadelphia area. And Doylestown's own Domani Star didn't just make the list - it came close to topping the list.

Zagat blog readers voted the eatery on West State Street as the third best Italian restaurant in the Philly area.

Here's what the blog had to say about it:

While the meatballs may be “to die for”, “every dish on the menu is a hit” at this “convivial” Italian BYO in Downtown Doylestown, where the “fresh”, “tasty” fare is “served with a smile” and “lives up to the prices” (especially the Sunday–Thursday dinner prix fixe, a “steal” of a deal); some report “cramped”, “noisy” environs, but most declare it a “winner.”

Which restaurant topped the list? And which ones rounded out the Top 10? Check out the full post on Zagat to find out.

Really??? The food is "ok"! If large portions & byob is your value system, then you could do a lot worse. Of course, Doylestown could use a few more quality byob choices, but you'll die holding your breath.

For authentic Italian cooking go to Radice on 202 in Blue Bell.

It's only 1/2 hour away via the new 202 Parkway!
The chef is usually present, in front of a wonderful wood burning oven, a petite woman, the commander on the bridge of her ship.
And Craig LeBan awarded Radice 3 bells!

Been to radice. Food was good . There was 4 of us and we ordered many courses to taste a lot of food . Many of them missed the mark and truly feel Domani Star has much better food. Better all around. I would go back to radice but honestly it can't compare to Domani Star
