DelVal to Dedicate Veterans Center to Janet Manion
Delaware Valley College will unveil plans for a new campus veterans center named after a fierce local advocate for service members.

Now, a new veterans center at Delaware Valley College will do the same - and it will bear her name.
On Monday, DelVal president Dr. Joseph Brosnan will unveil plans for the Janet Manion Military and Veterans Center, to be housed on the college's campus.
Janet Manion, along with her husband Tom, started the Travis Manion Foundation after their son Travis was killed in Iraq in 2007.
Based in Doylestown and run by Travis' sister, Ryan Manion Borek, the foundation works nationwide. It raises money for programs to help wounded veterans, to recognize the service of military members and to promote character and leadership in young people.
Janet Manion passed away in April after a battle with cancer. Before she died, she was awarded an honorary degree from DelVal.
Monday's unveiling will take place during a Veterans Day program in the Moumgis Auditorium in the college's student center. It will run from 3:30 to 5 p.m.
After the dedication, the Class of 2015 will present a Veterans Day Ceremony, college officials said. The program will include a tribute to each of the military branches, and a veteran from each branch will speak about his or her experiences and reflections.
Class of 2015 President Jade Orth first suggested the idea of a Veterans Day program last year when she was a freshman, college officials said.
"It’s a way we can do something for our veterans after everything they have done for us," Orth said in a statement.

What a wonderful tribute to Janet who worked tirelessly for Veterans in her son's name. Her work and dedication will continue to be an inspiration to young people in our community. God bless Travis and Janet.
