Checking out First Friday

First Friday visitors and supporters say they love the night, while borough leaders say they will continue to monitor it.

Doylestown Borough leaders were out in force Friday night, monitoring First Friday in response to concerns raised recently by some residents who live nearby.

Citing the noise, traffic congestion and groups of young teens that congregate during the monthly event, some residents of Oakland Ave. are heading a movement to stop the monthly event.

Noni West, who represents that area of town on borough council, organized borough leaders to direct drivers to free parking lots on the edges of downtown, hoping to alleviate some of the parking congestion on nearby streets, including Oakland.

Police were evident everywhere as well, monitoring the crowd and ensuring the event unfolded smoothly.

Town leaders said they will continue to monitor the event and work with nearby residents to address their concerns.
