BCCC Seeking High School Poet of the Year
Central Bucks high school students have a chance to hang on to the crown won last year by CB East's Stina Stannick.
Bucks County Community College is seeking submissions to its annual High School Poet of the Year contest.
This is the 26th year for the annual contest. The winner will receive $300, a proclamation from the Bucks County Commissioners and the opportunity to read at an April 14 reception on the college's Newtown campus.
All three runners-up also hailed from Central Bucks schools:
- first runner-up, Abigail Wang, of Chalfont, then a junior at CB South
- second runner-up, Dana Lapides, of Doylestown, then a senior at CB West
- third runner-up, Meghan Jusczak, of Doylestown, then a junior at CB East
The winning poems and one poem from each entrant will be published in an anthology, Writes of Passage Vol. 3, to be distributed at the April 14 reading. Runners-up and finalists in the contest will also be invited to read one poem at the public event.
Entries are being accepted from any sophomore, junior or senior enrolled in a Bucks County high school or home-schooled who has not already won the contest. Entry is free.
To enter, submit three original poems with an entry form, which can be found at www.bucks.edu/poets. Entries must be postmarked by March 8 or hand delivered by 4 p.m. that day to:
