Students volunteer at NOVA Thrift Shop for MLKJr 'Day On'
A group of student volunteers from United Friends School in Quakertown used their day off from school on January 21, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, as a “Day On” at NOVA Thrift Shop on Route 313 in Fountainville.
“We wanted to follow the example of service to others set by Martin Luther King Jr. and others,” says Bill Hoblin, parent and organizer of the initiative. “So instead of taking the day off, we decided to treat it as a ‘day on’ to honor Dr. King.”
Students and parents sorted clothing donations, priced items, stocked merchandise and discounted older merchandise throughout the shop. NOVA Thrift sells donated gently worn clothing and used housewares to raise funds to support the initiatives of Network of Victim Assistance in Bucks County.
